Short listing
The person or persons who carry out the short listing will look at the application form that you have filled in to compare the skills and experience that you have with the skills and experiences contained in the Person Specification on the Job Description. The panel will not consider any other information, or make assumptions about the experience that people may or may not have. Unless requested, if further information is attached to the application form (for example, a “C.V.”), this will not be taken into consideration.

This means that it is really important that you clearly describe the skills and experience that you have.

Interview
If you are invited to an interview the interviewer will ask further questions relating to the Person Specification to draw out more information about your skills and experience. It is important that candidates give as much detail as possible and do not assume that the panel will know anything about the work that you have done in the past.
