Compass Disability Services is a Two Ticks employer. The symbol has been awarded by Jobcentre Plus to employers who have made commitments to employ, keep and develop the abilities of disabled staff.

Compass Disability Services is committed to:

  • Interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities
  • Discuss with disabled employees, at any time but at least once a year, what both parties can do to make sure disabled employees can develop and use their abilities
  • Make every effort when employees become disabled to make sure they stay in employment
  • Take action to ensure that all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness needed to make these commitments work
  • Review these commitments each year and assess what has been achieved, plan ways to improve on them and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plan

GUIDELINES FOR APPLICANTS
Compass Disability Services is an equal opportunity employer and is therefore using the following guidelines to enable participants to have an equal chance in the recruitment process.

Our application packs are available in hard copy or electronic format. If you would like an alternative format please click here to contact us, please quote the job reference code you are interested in.

Short listing
The person or persons who carry out the short listing will look at the application form that you have filled in to compare the skills and experience that you have with the skills and experiences contained in the Person Specification on the Job Description. The panel will not consider any other information, or make assumptions about the experience that people may or may not have. Unless requested, if further information is attached to the application form (for example, a “C.V.”), this will not be taken into consideration.

This means that it is really important that you clearly describe the skills and experience that you have.

Interview
If you are invited to an interview the interviewer will ask further questions relating to the Person Specification to draw out more information about your skills and experience. It is important that candidates give as much detail as possible and do not assume that the panel will know anything about the work that you have done in the past.

Returning your application
Please return the completed Job Application form, along with the Monitoring Form to: Compass Disability Services, Unit 11-12 Belvedere Trading Estate, Taunton, TA1 1BH or  email: info@compassdisability.org.uk

Please ensure your application is returned by the given closing date as no application received after this date will be considered.

The vacancies that we have available are as follows:

Volunteering for Compass Disability Services
Here at Compass Disability Services we value our volunteers enormously, there are services that we provide and internal job roles that need to be done which are un-funded under our contracts. Volunteering for Compass not only looks great on any C.V. but it genuinely supports people who need it, and it's often actually fun too!

We are pleased to announce that we shall soon be developing our new Well Being centre in Unit 7 and will need volunteers to work in the café and kitchen, to work on reception, as administration volunteers and to help with the garden. We are also developing a 1:1 befriending for carers volunteer role and a Shopmobility shopping assistant role. If you are interested in any of these exciting new roles and would like to register your interest, please contact Jane Allin our Volunteer Coordinator on 01823 282823 or jane@compassdisability.org.uk.
