Networker/Compass Carers Newsletter

'Networker/Compass Carers' magazine was Compass Disability Services' own publication. The magazine was available Quarterly, published on the second Wednesday of March, June, September and December. More than 7500 printed copies were distributed free to our members and service users across Somerset on each occassion. We also sent thousands more electronically, as a web link and as a PDF. On request, the magazine was available as an audio recording as an MP3, on a 'memory stick' or on CD/DVD.  We also produced the magazine on coloured paper to assist some conditions, such as dyslexia and we had the facility to produce braille editions.

The magazine carried contact details, indexes and information lists as a ready source of services and support. We welcomed advertising to help fund our work.

This full colour magazine was intended for anyone living or working in Somerset, with an interest in disability or issues relating to health and social care, or anyone who was an unpaid carer.  The magazine included news articles, features and interviews in a bright and accessible format. Copies were distributed free of charge to our Network membership and registered carers, as well as to doctors surgeries, hospitals, active living centres, care homes and many other venues throughout Somerset

'Networker/Compass Carers' provided updates about Compass Disability Services, as well as updates for our members or indeed anyone with an interest in disability issues. 'Networker/Compass Carers' aimed to help readers live independent lives by providing information on products, equipment and services as well as keeping them up to date with important news – local and national – at a time when disability-related issues were/are rarely out of the headlines.

Given the magazines continued increase in circulation, it is with deep regret that Compass Disability Services can no longer find the extra resources required to keep it in print..
