Training Opportunities

Compass Disability Services is keen to enhance the skills and experience of our team and of others working in the community and voluntary sector or with an interest in disability, equality and diversity. Throughout the year we offer various affordable training opportunities and are happy to discuss your requirements relating to any of the following:

Being a Good Employer - Free training for individual employers who are funded to employ their own personal assistants and want to ensure they are fulfilling their obligations.  Funded by Skills for Care.

Training for Personal Assistants - training oppoprtunities for those who work for individual employers and would like to update their knowlege and enhance their skills to ensure they are providing personalised care and support.  Funding can be accessed through Skills for Care.

Disability Awareness - training for staff and volunteers to help them understand issues facing disabled people, the impact of the medical and social models of disability and legislation relating to disability.

Equality and Diversity - training for staff and volunteers to explore prejudice and stereotyping, understand the different types of discrimination, and ensure they are up to date with the latest legislative requirements.

Preparing for the Future - Free training and support to help people who have low level mental health conditions to build confidence, become more self sufficient and regain their sense of control.  Funded by SS&L (Somerset Skills & Learning).
